Wrinkle Reduction

Wrinkle Reduction
Botulinum Toxin Type A, is the current method of treating wrinkles. There are several brands of the Botulinum Toxin Type A that is produced by the bacteria clostridium botulinum. This treatment performed by an experienced and certified doctor is quite safe when used in small doses and injected directly to a specific area.

Frown Lines (is one area), forehead (is one area), crows feet of both eyes (is one area),  all these together are 3 areas.  You can have any one, two or three of these areas.

How do Wrinkle Reduction injections actually work?
Botulinum Toxin Type A works by blocking the release of a chemical messenger (neurotransmitter) which is formally known as acetylcholine. This neurotransmitter found in the nerve cells usually transmits a nerve impulse to a muscle cell and causes it to contract. With the absence of acetylcholine, the muscle cell is weakened leading to paralysis of the muscle. The effect is temporary and the nerve fibers have the capability of regenerating after a few months. This allows the client to minimize the wrinkle causing expressions in everyday life during that period.

How long does the treatment last for?
After the treatment, wrinkles will minimize or disappear making the client look more youthful. A more relaxed facial expression results in an improved facial appearance. The effect can last between 3 and 6 months depending on how long the person has been having the treatments for. The more treatments the client has had previously, the longer the effect will last. In some very rare cases, patients will develop antibodies which will neutralize the effects of the treatments and the treatment may become ineffective.

How safe are Wrinkle Reduction  injections?

Wrinkle Reduction injections are very safe when administered by a qualified medical practitioner.

There may be some minor side effects which may include some minor bruising, headache and mild injection area sensitivity. A drooping eye lid is one of the risks of the treatment. However, correct injection technique by a qualified practitioner should prevent this complication. Should this complication occur medication can help correct this problem. Pregnant women or breast feeding women should not have this treatment. Wrinkle reduction injections may also be used to reduce underarm sweating when indicated by the doctor.
